Sign up and run a marathon on your own or with friends and receive a personalized plaque!

The Marathon for Charity is 26.2 mile virtual challenge that participants can run as a series of runs or complete the 26.2 mile distance in one run! This Challenge will run from September 1st through December 31st. Participants can register as many times as they like, but must complete each 26.2 distance before registering for another.

You can make a difference!

Our official charities had established running events to raise much needed funding for their organizations, but will not be able to have their events during the Covid crisis. Participants can help by registering for the Marathon for Charity!  $10 of each entry fee will go directly to the chosen charity of your choice. Plus you can choose to make an additional donation during the registration process.

  • UF Health Jacksonville (Run for Heros 5K)

  • Ronald McDonald House (Light Up The House 5K)
  • 8th Street Sanctuary (Avondale 5K Classic)
  • First Coast Parkinson’s Run Foundation (First Coast Parkinson’s 5K)
  • Flamingo Charities (Run with the Flock)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation ( Stadium Challenge)

Registration Includes:

  • High tech moisture wicking running shirt 
  • Goodie Packet
  • Marathon bib
  • Personalized plaque upon completion of Marathon

Once you have completed your marathon you can pick up your personalized award plaque at one of our 1st Place Sports locations.  If you are out of town or would rather have your award mailed to you, you can select and pay for that option during registration. Please allow one week after you submit you final results for your award to be ready for pickup or mailing.

Steps to participating in the Marathon for Charity Challenge

  1. Register at SignMeUp.com using the link on this site. (Please spread the word about the marathon challenge to your friends and family).
  2. Select the charity that you would like to represent during the marathon challenge ( this is part of registration).
  3. Create a Strava Account at strava.com.
  4. Once you have registered on SignMeUp.com we will send you an email with instructions concerning how to join the challenge you selected, and how to record your mileage and time using Strava.
  5. Once you have completed your challenge email results@1stplacesports.com to let us know so that we can get your award ready for pickup or mailing.

You can register at any of our 1st Place Sports stores on our in-store computers with no processing fee.

Packet Pickup

Packets may be picked up at your selected 1st Place Sports locations on the following dates:

September 23rd – September 26th

October 7th – October 10th

November 11th – 14th

December 9th – 14th

December 30th – January 2nd

Awards

Gold Medal Plaque

There are two ways to earn a gold plaque:

  1. Run 26.2 miles in any seven-day continuous period.
  2. Complete one 26.2 mile run, finishing in under 4 hours.

 

Silver Medal Plaque

There are two ways to earn a silver plaque:

  1. Run 26.2 miles in any 14-day continuous period.
  2. Complete one 26.2 mile run, finishing in under 5 hours.

 

Bronze Medal Plaque

There are two ways to earn the bronze plaque:

  1. Run 26.2 miles in a 21-day continuous period.
  2. Complete one 26.2 mile run, finishing in under 6 hours.
